WinterTerm Seminar in Lib Arts
Winter Term Seminar in the Liberal Arts
This course is for students interested in exploring the meaning and the purpose of their liberal arts education. To frame this investigation, we will use the question "How Do We Live and Learn in Difficult Times?” Through an interdisciplinary array of texts, we will engage this question through discussion, written reflection, and the practice of mindfulness. Readings will include commentary on liberal learning in the U. S.; and on visions of the “good life,” drawn from various spiritual, philosophical, and humanistic traditions, that show how people may thrive in challenging times. This class is not open to students who have already taken INTD/EDST 0210 Sophomore Seminar in the Liberal Arts.
