Old Spanish in Today's Spanish
Old Spanishin Today's Spanish
This course focuses on a new approach of the study of current Spanish, based on the understanding of some of the processes that Spanish inherited from its past to be established as the language that we know today. Topics to be described and discussed include: orthography, phonetics, grammar, vocabulary, and semantics. This will allow students to learn why today’s Spanish is the way it is, to know the reasons of its linguistic variants (Spain and America) and to understand many issues that are explained more clearly from the perspective of Old Spanish. Students will realize that many forms of current Spanish are processes that have been used from older times. This innovative linguistic approach will enable students to improve significantly their skills of many linguistic issues that affect to the teaching of Spanish as a second language. (1 unit)
