Intermediate Portuguese II
Students enrolling in this sequence will have successfully completed one or more years of study in Portuguese and will have a proficiency level of at least "intermediate-mid" according to the ACTFL proficiency guidelines. In addition to strengthening their knowledge of grammatical and syntactical structures and improving their mastery of the language while increasing vocabulary and functional communicative ability, students enrolled in the Portuguese School will also develop their intercultural competence through courses divided into thematic-culture related units that are team-taught by faculty and experts from different areas of studies, providing students different concepts and perspectives. These content courses may include components such as theoretical readings, critical discussions and writings, exposing students to cultural products and practices of the lusophone world.
Students completing this sequence will emerge with a proficiency level of "Advanced-low" or "Advanced-Mid". Depending on motivation, effort, and diligence, some students will progress to Advanced-High during this sequence. (1 unit)
