Medical Concepts and Terminology

This course seeks to delve deeply into the current professional practice of medical interpretation by providing an introduction to medical concepts and terminology. This course provides an overview of key medical concepts and terminology that are essential for interpreting in the medical setting. This includes basic anatomy and terminology related to diseases, symptoms, and procedures, but also a look at the structure of the medical interview, as well as the complex US healthcare system and some of the challenges of interpreting in this system. A key part of the course will be learning where to find information to continue building knowledge of a complex field.
