Writing the Body
Writing the Body
In this course we will examine the dialogue between the language of the performing body and the written word. Our goals will be to enhance our understanding of the human body through technical practice, experiential anatomy, and ways of writing that respond to and deconstruct the experience of embodiment. Daily technique classes, readings, writings, and performance assignments will encourage a synthesis of personal embodied experience and the words that express that experience. Personal essays, poetry, and several compositional works will culminate in a final performance of works created during the term.
