The course is dedicated to an examination of literary theory and criticism, in particular the history of literary criticism as it developed in France - and more globally within “la francophonie” - over the course of the XIX and XX centuries. What is literature? Of what does it speak? What is its character and/or its object? How shall we approach it? These are the questions we will explore through the works studied.

ISBN-13: 978-2757842041
• Jérôme Roger, La critique littéraire, Paris, Armand Colin, collection « 128 », 2016,
• ISBN-13: 978-2-200-61612-0
