Social Justice & Human Rights
In this class we will explore and discuss how power relations manifest themselves through language and speech. Over the course of the semester, we will analyze a series of case studies that exemplify social inequities and reflect upon our role in combating these injustices. Students will develop a (socio)linguistic toolbox that allows them to communicate in French on a variety of contemporary issues related to their personal and professional interests. In so doing, they will refine and strengthen their own voices in French, as forces for defending social justice causes.
