Two Centuries of Youth Movements & Subcultures in Russia
This course will examine the history of youth movements, organizations, subcultures, and cults in Russia, from the Dandies and Decembrists of the early 19th century to today’s Hipsters and Gopniks. We will analyze the cultural, ideological, and social aspects of Russian youth movements in the context of the political and economic situation in the country. The course will also present the brightest heroes of youth cults in their own times.
