The True History of Russian Rock
This course will trace the chronological history of rock music in the Soviet Union and Russia from the Cold War to the “stability” of the Putin era. We will examine in detail the styles and directions of the genre, as well as the most interesting creative figures. Many accounts will be based on personal impressions and experiences. The historical study will be illustrated by recordings of Russian rock and involve the analysis of selected songs..
