Music of the Caribbean
After a brief introduction to general aspects of the music of Latin America, this course will focus on the music of the Caribbean, specifically as it reflects the African heritage. We will look at countries such as Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Venezuela among others, with a particular focus on delineating those cultural aspects that help to establish our “tropicality”.
