Borges' Ficciones
Borges' /Ficciones/
The Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986) is arguably one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. In this course we will take a deep look at one of his major works: the short story collection Ficciones (1941). By using the technique of close reading, we will define Borges’ main themes in this book and analyze their connections with history and philosophy. We will also examine Borges’ literary sources and cultural legacy. This course will be taught in Spanish. (At least two Spanish courses at the 0300 level, or by waiver).
