Eval as Tool for Org Learning

Qualitative evaluation can be a valuable approach in helping organizations learn more from the experiments they undertake to improve impact. This 2-unit course will equip students to employ a variety of qualitative methods that can be used to extract lessons learned from organizational experiments. Through a combination of field work and presentations, students will work closely with the DPP Experimentation Team(a small group of faculty members) to identify insights into the Fall Semester DPP curricular experiments. These experiments include new economics requirements and a new applied social science research methods sequence that all entering students will complete in their first semester. Students will develop appropriate instrumentation, gather data, draw inferences about lessons learned, and engage in discussion with faculty about how these lessons can be applied. This course is particularly suitable for students who hope to pursue careers related to evaluation, capacity development and applied research.
