Objects and Analysis
In this college writing course, we will take a selection of artworks from the Middlebury College Museum and from the campus at large and study them in relation to a variety of art-historical approaches such as Formalism, Marxism, Feminism, Iconography, and Social Art History. We will use these and other approaches to art-historical analysis as lenses through which one can view and understand works of art and architecture. Strongly recommended for recently declared art history majors.
