GIS
This course introduces the theory and application of spatial data acquisition, analysis, and display using a project-based approach. The first section of the course introduces GIS and provides examples, after which we work through a series of exercises to develop students’ GIS skills. Students will then plan a project, locate, gather and manage appropriate data, then visualize and analyze their geographic data using various geographic information systems (GIS) software applications, including Google Earth and ESRI ArcGIS. The course will be conducted using lecture and lab methods; active student participation is required.
