Intermediate

Level 2.5, Intermediate French is intended for students who have had previous instruction in French, typically about 90 hours, and who have studied the fundamentals of the language but need further instruction in the language skills of written and oral comprehension and written and oral expression.

The course is designed to help students further develop language and intercultural skills needed for proficient communication at all levels. Class materials and activities are carefully chosen to meet the students’ various needs and interests. The classes implement the task-based and communicative methods, which embrace both grammatical and lexical content, mirroring real-life situations. The level is divided into two courses of two hours each. In each course, performance and progress will be assessed on a weekly basis in addition to a final exam.

By the end of this seven-week immersion program, students should reach a B1+/B2 level of proficiency in all language skills. They will be able to navigate a variety of real-world situations very easily, to speak with a good degree of fluency and spontaneity, to comprehend a wide range of authentic materials, and to engage in critical intercultural comparisons and reflections.
