Intro to 2D Art & Design
Introduction to 2D Art + Design
This foundations course introduces students to the history, practices, and principal elements of 2-D Art + Design, including line, shape, texture, value, and color. Each week, we will examine the importance and function of a fundamental design element and students will illustrate their understanding through an array of analog and digital practices, including drawing, collage, and the Adobe Creative Suite. Concepts of harmony, rhythm, scale, symmetry, contrast, and emphasis will be introduced through readings and slide lectures. This course will provide students with the tools and insights to explore their options within the field of visual art. 6 hr. lect./lab
