Senior Thesis, Supervised Research
This course is a continuation of HARC 0700 which provides a framework for intensive research for the senior thesis in the history of art. We will work as a small community of scholars on the research process, meeting regularly to discuss the refinement of topics, methodologies of research, and thesis construction, as well as the actual process of writing and editing. During the third week of the course, we will observe art history in action by traveling to a major center for art and architecture, to visit museums, auction houses, galleries, and other institutions that gainfully employ art historians. The culmination of the course will be a thesis symposium at the end of winter term, when students present the fruits of their research to the faculty and the larger community.
