Forensic Psychology and Criminal Behavior
This course will provide students with an introduction to the field of forensic psychology through the in-depth study of criminal behavior. Topics will include developmental factors for criminality, risk assessment and dangerousness, psychopathy, criminal profiling (with a focus on perpetrators of serious crimes), extremism and terrorism, and victimology and treatment. The material will be considered from a range of theoretical perspectives. We will read books, chapters, articles, and direct source material, and watch a few films. The class will be a combination of lecture, discussion, and student presentations. Students will have opportunities to focus on areas of specific interest.  This course will count as a PSYC elective. (PSYC 0105 or equivalent)
