Modern Italian Filmmakers
This course is a study of some of the major Italian modern filmmakers and of their impact on the development of film production in Italy and in the world. Students will be exposed to the particularity of the films of Fellini, Antonioni, Pasolini, Bertolucci, Leone, Bellocchio, and some of the major contemporary filmmakers. The study of Italian cinema and culture is integrated with a focus on accuracy and fluency in speaking and writing. Students will read interviews, articles, and reviews about the chosen films, and will be trained on the predominant genres of scholarly film writing.
