Principles and Practices of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language
This course is an introductory course in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Main content includes:
1. Instruction summary: characteristics of teaching Chinese as a second language; the application of language, instruction, dual language acquisition and related theories.
2. Instruction focus: learners’ characteristics analysis; teachers’ knowledge and ability analysis; interaction between teachers and students in diverse cultures.
3. Instruction resources; instruction media types and utilization principles, producing supplementary teaching materials and tools.
4. Instruction methods: principle teaching approach, course planning, basic instruction procedure.
5. Instruction research: case study of second language instruction; future research directions
