Lit & Cul Hispanic Texts
Literary Texts and Interpretation
This course aims to introduce the student to critical reading, commentary, and analysis of literary texts in Spanish. To do this, heterogeneous literary texts from diverse origins (both Spanish and Latin American) will be analyzed in class. On the one hand, we are going to contextualize them and discuss how the historical circumstances of each work can be read from the text itself. On the other hand, we are going to reflect on the rhetorical tools used, on the processes of their construction, on the reactions that they intend to provoke with their reading, and on the procedures and strategies with which they aspire to achieve it.
The course is divided into three parts, each of which will be dedicated to studying the analytical strategies appropriate to the main literary genres: narrative, theater and poetry.
