Intro to Digital Photography
The Magic Image: An Introduction to Digital Photography
In this hands-on course using digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras, Adobe software, and Epson photo printers, students will master the basics of photography, both in terms of technical skills and aesthetic strategies. Topics will include exposure, white balance, file formats, lens types, depth of field, motion blur, noise, file organization, digital development, aesthetic strategies, and introductory theories of photography. Weekly assignments accompanied by slide lectures on historical and contemporary artwork will explore the language of photography. A 35mm DSLR with manual controls and a $100 fee for materials is required. This course counts as an elective towards the major or minor in Studio Art.
