New Immigration Mediterranean
The New Immigration in the Mediterranean
The course aims to be acquainted with the phenomenon of immigration in Italy in all its complexity. It will start with an introduction on the international and European contexts and the historical evolution and regulation of the phenomenon in Italy, after this, the following issues will be explored: the glossary of immigration; data and statistics from the beginning of immigration to this days; their employment and economic role; social inclusion and education; cultural integration, the second generation and identity processes; the problems of coexistence, racism and the various forms of discrimination; immigrants in the Italian press; good practices. At the end of the course students should ponder and reflect critically on the matter and elaborate of proposals to face the immigration issue in different contexts (political, social, educational, cultural, business, leisure) and at all levels (Italian, European and international).
