Hispanic Culture through Literature, Film, and Painting
This course is an introduction to the culture of Spanish-speaking Latin America through the study of literature, film and painting. We will discuss Latin American historical and cultural development as well as major features and issues of its social, artistic, and intellectual life today. Through the analysis of different arts and media from the Spanish-speaking world, students will be introduced to the different cultures of Latin America. They will also consider how these cultural productions reflect and contribute to questions of identity and power.
