Producing Environmental Media: Landscape Video
Filming outside is one of the most rewarding pursuits. In this course students will choose one slice of the landscape in which to base an entire semester of filmmaking. Students will scour their chosen location for documentary and narrative possibilities. They will study natural lighting conditions from the harsh noon sun to the colors at dusk. They will film in all weather conditions. Audio recordings layered into soundscapes will deepen the images. When the environment is thoroughly understood each student will design a short film project well suited to the chosen place. 3 hrs. lect. / 3 hrs. screening.
