An introduction to the theory and practice of behavior change or the process of encouraging new habits and change by design. During the workshop students will learn about some of the behavioral science tools available to facilitate behaviors at various scales. During the first weekend, students will learn about existing behavior change models and practice designing around specific behaviors. Between the first and second weekend, students will design, iterate and conduct their own pilot tests. Students will present their findings and lessons learned through their design experience during the second weekend, and receive critiques from the instructor and their peers. During the course, students will also help generate possible behavior interventions that can be implemented in their own lives, within the MIIS community, and beyond once the course has been completed.
