"The course is for Japanese language teachers to incorporate Japanese literature into their Japanese language instruction. The course introduces unique Japanese perspectives through the selected literary works and the related historical developments of Japanese society associated with the works. This course covers Nara (714-794)Heian (794-1192), Heian/Kamakura (1192-1333), Edo (1603-1867), Taisho (1912), Showa (1926)/Heisei (1989)/Reiwa (1989-present). The selections of the literary works are aligned with those that are taught at Japanese K-12 schools, and mainly utilize the Aozora bunko, NHK for School videos, YouTube videos, and other website information that are available for free to general public.
