Women in the Visual Arts
This course explores both the history of women working in the visual arts and the historical representation of women in painting and sculpture. We will consider issues such as women's education, artistic training, and social issues which have either constrained or promoted women interested in producing art. While the course will include examples from the Medieval period through the present, an emphasis will be placed on women artists of the twentieth century. 3 hrs. lect.
