Difficult Questions of Russian Grammar

This course aims to answer thorny questions submitted by advanced students, such as why some Russian nouns have two prepositional cases (v lesu, o lese) and others have two genitive cases (chashka chaya, chayu) ; why the present tense of the verb tantsevat’ is tantsuyu, whereas the present tense of odevat’ is odevayu; why Russians use imperfective verbs, when all textbooks tell us to use the perfective, and vice versa; and whether it is true that in Russian there is free word order. Students will do exercises, read articles, learn to ask and answer grammar questions themselves, and write grammar tests.
