Oral Strategies for Professional Communication

Communicating clearly and comfortably in public is a valuable and essential skill for any professional career. This course will allow students to develop oral proficiency and competence communicating effectively in professional and academic settings. It will focus on interpersonal and presentational modes of communication. Students will gain practical experience conversing and negotiating while incorporating culturally appropriate and social conventions. Students will also prepare and deliver short informative and argumentative speeches about a topic related to their academic or professional fields. Through the exploration and discussion of culturally relevant topics, students will enhance their fluency, speaking, and listening skills. Finally, they will reflect on intercultural, pragmatic, and sociolinguistics aspects.
