Chemistry in the Environment
An exploration of the chemistry of our environment, both natural and polluted. Designed for the nonscience major. Topics covered in this course include acid rain, ozone depletion, photochemical smog, global warming, water quality, and energy. Emphasis will be placed on both the current state of knowledge and the underlying chemical principles. These principles include chemical bonding, thermodynamics, acid/base chemistry, kinetics, and stoichiometry. 3 hr. lect.
