Intro Sight Trans to English
From French into English
This course introduces the students to the theory and practice of sight translation from French into English. It complements the foundational course in the principles of translation and helps students develop the skills they will need for the remainder of their study at MIIS and in their careers as translators and interpreters. Class sessions will be conducted as workshops. Students will be exposed to a variety of text types in different subject areas.
At the end of the course, students should be able to sight translate a 3-minute general French text into English with accuracy, clarity and a smooth delivery; They will also understand and use specific strategies that can be of assistance in sight translation.
