Applied Phonetics II
This course is aimed at students who have previously taken FREN 6514 or those who have mastered the articulation (vowels and consonants) of French.
The goal of this course is to master:
o Continuity and emphasis.
o French liaisons.
o The silent āeā in French.
This course allows students to understand these complex phonetic applications. It also allows them to familiarize themselves with the study of variation in French.
The approach adopted in this course is not only normative, but also descriptive; therefore non-standard pronunciation is also analyzed.
No required texts.
