Visual Image Tool in Teaching

Visual Image as a Tool in Teaching Spanish as L2
The purpose of this seminar is to offer students-teachers —or those who have an interest in teaching Spanish as a second language— a repertoire of concrete pedagogical tools that involve the universe of the image as a genuine resource for learning. There are different ways to approach the image; affect (and the theories that pertain to it) will be the one that we will use for this seminar, understanding that the experience is where the learning processes are founded. Experience that only happens in the bond with the other. When that other is an image, a video, a work of art; the interest that arouses may be the bridge necessary to access a second language. We will also consider approaches from the fields of semiotics, anthropology and hermeneutics.
Students will build a knowledge based around the image and its links with other forms of expression, which will enable them to conduct pedagogical activities and make professional use of images in the classroom. We will work with class simulations, updated readings on the subject, analysis of visual and audiovisual materials, visits to the Art Center, as well as from the exchange of real cases arising from the participants in their work experiences.
