Trilogy of the Godfather

Analyzing The Godfather's Trilogy
The course aims to analyze The Godfather's trilogy and contextualize its most critical issues while deconstructing the myth of the Old Mafia as an organization that opposes drug trafficking and protects the poor and the defenseless. The Godfather Trilogy has played a significant role in shaping the mobster persona into the public's imagination. The effects of The Godfather on popular culture will also be analyzed, as well as topics such as family, revenge, death, the American Dream, rituals, religion, politics and power, with particular attention to objects, color, gesture, language, setting and territory. At the end of the course, the student should be able to debunk the image of outlaw culture by demystifying or, more accurately, "defictionalizing" it.
