Arabic Language Learn/Teach

Research in Arabic Language Learning/Teaching

This course will address major issues in teaching and learning Arabic as a foreign/second language that require inquiry, discussion, and search for empirical evidence. The course will discuss the key concepts in second language research from various perspectives and address the problems encountered by researchers in the field of Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL). Topics to be addressed include research design, methodology, data collection, and analysis. This course is designed to help students of TAFL, applied linguistics, and classroom teachers to develop the critical and analytical skills through reading, understanding, and analyzing research experiments and critique published studies. In an attempt to bridge the gap between theory and practice, students are encouraged to create and design classroom action research projects.
