Students will be working under the guidance of a professional evaluator (Elana Dean) to create and administer a set of evaluation instruments that will be used to assess intended and unintended effects associated with the limited-scale, trial introduction of a new approach to teaching and learning at MIIS (“Sprintensive”). The Fall group of participants will help create and refine the initial set of instruments, gather baseline measurements, and interpret findings. Spring Semester students will use the instruments to generate additional measurements and will draw inferences from the data collected. Required: data analysis, policy analysis. Preferred: prior coursework in evaluation or DPMI.

This class alone does not satisfy the MPA evaluation requirement but can be used in support of the following DPP concentrations: Complexity and Systems Thinking; Program and Policy Evaluation and Research Methods; Social Change Organizational Management and Leadership.

This class will satisfy the MPA evaluation requirement if taken for 4 credits OR if the 2-credit version is paired with another 2 credits of coursework with Evaluation in the title.

DPP students who have completed two semesters and enroll for 4 units can use this class to satisfy their DPP Practicum (Capstone) requirement if it is not also being used to satisfy the evaluation requirement.
