Accelerated Chinese
In this course students with Chinese cultural background but with limited exposure to written texts will learn to read and write Chinese using pinyin romanization, traditional characters (used everywhere before the 1950s and still used in Taiwan and Hong Kong) and simplified characters (used in mainland China). Study will be at an accelerated pace; in one semester students will learn at least the equivalent of one year of college Chinese and will be expected to test into second year Chinese or above upon completion of the class.
