IntlCrisis NegotiationExercise

The International Strategic Crisis Negotiation Exercise (ISCNE) is a three-day, immersive learning experience in diplomacy and negotiations. This year's scenario focuses on the Central Asian region. The scenario involves China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan as they navigate complex issues such as security, water rights/scarcity, and border disputes. As former Soviet Socialist Republics, the 'stans' have experienced varying degrees of success in the global arena. They face pressures from Russia to remain within its sphere of influence, from a rising China expanding its Belt and Road initiative, and India's emergence as a regional and global power, creating a dynamic and challenging environment. Up to seven student led delegations will engage in diplomatic negotiations to find solutions to a multifaceted set of issues, including climate change, resource management, militarization, territorial disputes, international trade, and governance. This simulation encourages creative thinking about the region and provides a realistic experience of the challenges diplomatic negotiators face in addressing global issues.
