Humanity in Midst of War

Serving as a humanitarian worker/administrator/policy maker in conflict zones presents unique challenges not encountered in other international work. This course will give an overview of international humanitarian law (IHL), the Geneva Conventions and their additional Protocols, how these protect the most vulnerable tin time of armed conflict, and their relevance to those working in conflict zones.

This course will provide students with a practical knowledge of the issues that confront the most vulnerable populations, how IHL protects on a day-to-day basis, and the role of the Red Cross in war zones. Included in this course will be speakers who have been refugees and also those who have worked in non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in war zones.
