Survey Italian Lit & Culture

Survey of Italian Literature and Culture*

This course is a survey of Italian literary texts illustrating the cultural and socio-political history of Italy from post-WWII to the present. The major works of representative Italian contemporary authors, including texts in Italian by non-native writers, and literary movements will be presented in time progression, analyzed in their cultural, historic, and political contexts. The readings will serve as a starting point for conversation aimed at getting to know the Italian contemporary literary scenario and at improving the students’ ability to express themselves with accuracy both in speaking and in writing. The study of Italian literature will be carried out through class readings and discussions, and written compositions.
