French Foreign Policy

French Foreign Policy
In this course we will focus on the foreign policy of Fifth Republic France (1958-Present). In the first part, we will study the role of Charles de Gaulle in defining the place of France in the world after the liberation and in establishing the major tenets of French foreign policy. In the second part, we will examine the evolution of French foreign policy by focusing on three main themes: (1) the relationship of France with its former colonies; (2) transatlantic relations; and (3) European integration.
