Everyday Italian

Beginning Italian - Everyday Italian for Pleasure, Business & Travel

This course is an introduction to the Italian language that provides a
foundation for older adults who have never studied Italian. Focus on
the spoken language encourages rapid mastery of the basic structures
and vocabulary of contemporary Italian. The exclusive use of Italian in
dialogue situations and vocabulary building encourages the student to
develop skills in a personalized context. Conversation and drill are
stimulated and fostered through active reference to popular Italian
music, art, cinema, regional cuisine, and realia from everyday Italian
life and culture. Multimedia resources will be employed to aid
comprehension and language acquisition.

This special course will last seven weeks and is intended for older
adults, who love Italian culture. There are no exams or finals, only
the fun of learning with short quizzes, presentations and written
assignments. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in
the School annual play, chorus, weekly games and other activities.
All enrolled students must abide by the language pledge and must
participate in select extra and co-curriculum activities, including the
afternoon diction course.

This course is not recommended for current undergraduate students. Financial aid is not available for auditors. Audited courses are not recorded on the Middlebury transcript.
