Grassroots Perspectives on Sustainable Development
In the Anthropocene, sustainability and resilience are matters of survival. But what is actually known about how to increase the sustainability and resilience of human societies? ‘Systems thinking’ is frequently called forth as part of the solution; but what is it, and how can it be harnessed? Recent global scholarship and innovative practices point to answers that we can apply more locally. We will explore the literature, learn how to model systems with conceptual diagrams and software, and work with a community partner on an issue of sustainability and resilience in Addison County. 3 hrs. lect.
