Children's visual Media

From Pooh Bear to Pixar: Children's Visual Media from a developmental Perspective
In an age where preschoolers are more technologically savvy than their parents, it’s becoming increasingly important to understand children’s media from a developmental perspective: how children experience and learn from the products adults make for them. In this course we will focus on visual media, dissecting picture books, videos, and apps from an interdisciplinary perspective. Through classic and contemporary examples, we will explore the history of media for children, theoretical bases of making meaning through pictures, implications for diversity and equanimity in media, and how new technologies may be transforming early childhood experiences.
