Low Tech/High Tech Ceramics

Low-Tech/High-Tech Ceramics*
Ceramics is one of the oldest technologies known to humankind. Though many advances have been made, the process remains largely the same: shape the clay, apply surface treatment, and transform with fire. A recent trend that incorporates modern technology in pottery making is the use of digitally designed and printed decals. In this course, we will learn not only to form pottery using the wheel and slabs, but will also create decals to apply drawn or photographic images to our finished work with the goal of merging low and high technologies.
