Beginning SP: Comm in Context

Beginning Spanish: Resources for Communication
This course is designed to introduce students to communicative resources necessary (e.g. grammatical structures, vocabulary, pronunciation…) to express personal meaning on basic topics (e.g. family, daily routines, and leisure time) and negotiate basic survival situations (making travel arrangements, ordering meals, and making purchases, etc.). Language topics and functions are integrated into contextualized activities that emphasize all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing), with special attention given to speaking and listening. Cultural knowledge that will build a deeper understanding of how Spanish-speaking peoples communicate will be integrated into the course content. This course meets two hours a day. (1 unit)
