This dizzying abundance and range of experience is represented in the many novels and films about Bombay that have gained world-wide recognition. In this seminar, we will explore the many facets of Bombay in a cultural and historical context through films such as Shri 420, Salaam Bombay, Bombay, and Slum Dog Millionaire and novels such as No God in Sight, Love and Longing in Bombay, and A Fine Balance, framing these in in order to explore the many facets of Bombay. 3 hrs. sem.
