Photojournalism

Photojournalism
Can a Photojournalist survive in a YouTube world? Yes, if they learn to take advantage of the new technologies and techniques available. This course begins with photography basics, progresses through the fundamentals of researching, shooting, and presenting a photographic story. We will discuss the legal, ethical, and business issues that the modern photojournalist must face. Additional topics will include audio recording, style, lighting, gear selection, and editing software. Students will have weekly assignments to produce short portfolios demonstrating their understanding of the concepts covered in class, ending in a longer portfolio of a story of their own design. Students must have their own camera, a DSLR is preferred.
