Sensing the Environment

Sensing the Environment
In this hands-on laboratory style course we will explore different ways to sense the environment. Under the close guidance of the instructor, students will complete both individual and group experiments that will allow them to deepen their understanding of the techniques available to gather environmental data and visualize it. At the end of this course, students will be able to describe the science underlying various types of sensors, gather and visualize data from such sensors, and from publicly available remote sensing datasets. While gaining hands-on familiarity with various tools and techniques, teams of students will engage in a term-long project where they will pose and investigate a hypothesis using a dataset of their choosing.
